What is Parkinson’s Disease?
Parkinson’s Disease (PD) is a progressive neurological disorder classified as a movement disorder. Due to the loss of a chemical called dopamine, individuals with Parkinson’s often experience significant emotional symptoms, which can further exacerbate the physical effects of the disease. Therapists working with these individuals—and their families—need to understand specific considerations to provide effective care.
